I've been collecting links to pages for some of my favorite groups and musicians and have gathered them together here in the stacks. Obviously this list doesn't contain all of my favorites, but it gives a pretty good sample of what I listen to most.

| The Godz are a band from
Columbus Ohio, playing "Harley Davidson Rock'n'Roll." I remember them from the
late 70's when they put out 2 albums on Millennium/Casablanca records. They
were still playing gigs around Ohio several years ago, with original member Eric Moore at the helm, but I have
not heard of anything they have done recently. When I was poking around my old albums,
looking to see which ones I want to copy to CD so that I can listen to them, I ran across
my copies of The Godz and Nothing is Sacred. There used to
be a couple of Godz websites out there, but all but one have disappeared.
They think we're all junkies. But everybody's some kind of junkie. There's
money junkies, booze junkies, dope junkies, sex junkies ... all of us, you and I, we're
Godz. And Godz are Rock'n'Roll junkies. |

![]() KISS, the first band I really fell in love with. Had to have all of their albums and played them over and over. Didn't follow them much through the 80's with all of the band member changes. Now that the original crew is back together, maybe we can Rock and Roll All Nite and Party Every Day again! |
What is there really left to say about Led Zeppelin. I do have to say that I like them in spite of Stairway to Heaven. I just never liked that song as much as many of their others. The blues influence was elevated with the heavy metal sound and resulted in some great covers and some great original tunes. My most favorite tunes are Fool in the Rain and Over the Hills and Far Away, but I like all of the others too. I have even learned to live with Stairway to Heaven! |
One of my new favorites. Sometimes it's hard to explain why you like a particular band's music. This is one of those bands for me. I'd never heard of them before seeing Come Out And Play on MTV. After seeing that vidoe once, I went out and bought the Smash CD and I was hooked. For me, the Offspring are very much like the Ramones - loud, raw and adrenaline pumping music. When I have the CD in and the headphones on, I seem to be able to get my work done faster. |
This is my all-time favorite band. When I first heard Roxanne, I was hooked. Only together to record 5 albums, they packed a lot of punch in that short time. Each album had a different musical style, which meant that the sound was never old. So many bands try to imitate a previous album, and then find that the encore falls flat on it's face. Even though I am a big Police fan, for some reason I don't like Sting on his solo career. He just does not sound the same at all without Andy and Stewart. |
What can I say about the "Godfathers of Punk"? You can't get much simpler in music or lyrics than this. Raw, primitive, loud, fast, and adrenaline pumping. I used to listen to the Ramones while studying in college. People thought I was strange, but this really helped! Unfortunately, Joey and Dee Dee are no longer with us. Rest in Punk guys! ![]() First it was Dave. Then came Sammy. Now Gary. No matter who is sinngin, you still have Eddie playing the magic on the guitar. Eddie's one of the 4 greats what are listed here on this page. (Clapton, Mark Knoffler and Jimmy Page are the others, in case you had to ask!) He can do things with a guitar that just leave you speechless. Oh yes, I prefer the Dave era the best. Sammy's first VH album is good, but VH will always be Jamie's Crying, Beautiful Girls and Panama to me! |
The Little Ol' Band from Texas has been around for a long time making their unique brand of music. I've seen them live twice, and both times was a great time. From the early blues influenced tunes like Jesus Just Left Chicago to the more popish songs on Elimator and later releases, they just kept on doing their own thing. So put on your Cheap Sunglasses and try not to get Arrested for Driving While Blind. After all, this band is the inspiration for the name of this website - Groovie's Little Hippie Pad. <Link list currently empty> |
